Processing Technical Support

R S Cockerill are a family business based at Dunnington, near York supplying the major crisp manufacturers with processing potatoes, helping to make some of the nation’s most recognisable snacks. As well as supplying quality packed potatoes to the discount retailers, foodservice and ready meal manufacturing industries.

We are a fully vertically integrated business, operating a supply chain service from Mini tuber seed production, right through to delivering raw material to our customer’s premises, coordinated with potato growers throughout the North of England. Over the last few years we have invested considerably in developing our facilities and our people. As a result our business continues to grow, and we are looking for the right individual to support our processing team.

The role would suit someone with an understanding of agriculture, wanting to embark on a career in the potato industry. We can offer career progression, increasing responsibility and training.

The role:
- Assist with the sampling of potato crops and stores when required to do so. Develop an understanding of the quality control testing and recording systems.
- Work alongside the processing team to implement relevant customer accreditation requirements. Assisting growers in their initiation where necessary.
- Involved in the development of our vender assurance programme, and collating field application data from growers.
- Participate in the implementation of our annual potato trials programme, aiding in the analysis and reporting.
- Support in the development and implementation of the company programme to increase our knowledge of sustainable and regenerative farming practices within the potato industry.

The ideal candidate:
- A reasonable level of post-secondary education.
- Organised, IT literate, and possess good reporting skills.
- A motivated individual, with a positive and enthusiastic ‘can do’ attitude.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being comfortable liaising with customers, suppliers and work colleagues.
- Possess a full driving license.
