Harvesting in full swing
This year's harvest is now in full swing, with majority of crops burnt off, and the harvesters in the field. It is nice to see them moving smoothly through the fields rather than them being stuck like last year, and we even have nice dry weather which I hope lasts a few more weeks. Yields are looking promising with some good quality potatoes around being suitable for long term storage. Slow maturing crops have delayed harvest by approximately two weeks, due to achieving full skin set. However it still may not be a perfect harvest with a lot of greens and common scab being seen throughout susceptible varieties, but the year still looks promising.
