Green Initiatives at Cockerills
Here at Cockerills we take our environmental responsibility very seriously. Climate change is now generally an accepted fact which has increased our focus on alternative energy sources such as thermal water heating, ground and air source heat pumps and wind turbines.
Early December 2011 saw the installation of our 50 kilowatt PV array panels covering some 340 square metres of the new packhouse extension. These coupled with the installation of the wind turbine later this month should provide some 90,000 kilowatts per annum, representing around 15% of our overall energy requirements.
